Dr. Shaobo Lei

Dr. Shaobo Lei is a double-fellowship trained retinal specialist and award-winning vision science researcher. After completing his MD, PhD, ophthalmology residency, and fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery and neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Toronto, He practices a full-time surgical/medical retina specialist and high-volume cataract surgeon in Ontario, Canada.

He developed a surgical practice focused on complex anterior and posterior segment conditions, including combined cataract and retina procedures, surgical management of dislocated intraocular lens, aqueous misdirection, choroidal effusions, and complications of ocular trauma—cases that demand both precision and creativity. These experiences have deepened his commitment to providing confident, evidence-based care for even the most challenging surgical scenarios.

His commitment extends beyond clinical excellence. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, Dr Lei strives to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps in patient care, ensuring comfort and clarity for all. Outside the clinic, you might find him speed skating competitively, flying remote-controlled airplanes with his children, or tending to his blueberry bushes—a small hobby that reminds him daily of growth and nurturing.
